Desktop Support Technician

The primary responsibilities of the Desktop Support Technician are to assist Icon Media Direct staff members with the installation, configuration and maintenance of desktop computers, printers, phones, peripheral equipment and software within established standards and guidelines. This is an internal support role and the ideal candidate is calm, collected and able to put others at ease while troubleshooting technology issues.

Job Duties Include, but not limited to:

  • Set-up and maintenance of user accounts, permissions, mailboxes, groups and other server administration tasks
  • Set-up new user desktops and laptops with standard business applications
  • Maintain user environment, including desktops, notebooks, printer/copiers, input devices and all IT-related equipment
  • Maintain system performance, troubleshooting system hardware and software
  • Assist with developing and maintaining internal documentation for knowledge base, user guides and standard operating procedures
  • Assist management staff in various IT projects as needed
  • Assist managing time clock system, security and phone systems 
  • Provide support for staff/visitors with audio/video equipment in conference rooms
  • Assist in training staff on use of hardware, software and IT procedures
  • Configure and relocate computer equipment, mobile devices, iPads/iPhones, as needed
  • Consistently provide excellent customer service skills
  • Complete other special projects as assigned
  • Demonstrate flexibility in job responsibilities


  • Strong communication and customer service skills for daily internal customer support
  • Demonstrated ability to remotely resolve and troubleshoot systems issues
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize and organize while meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to lift fifty (50) pounds   

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • A+ Certification preferred, but not required
  • 2-4 years of hands-on hardware and software troubleshooting experience in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience with Virus/Malware troubleshooting and removal
  • Experience with VOIP/PBX phone setup and configuration
  • Proficiency in Microsoft applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) with knowledge of advanced Excel formulas, functions and features (including pivot tables)
  • Thorough knowledge of Windows desktop and laptop hardware, preferably Lenovo
  • Ability to troubleshoot network connectivity and network printing issues
  • Knowledge and understanding of Microsoft Windows 7
  • Familiar with Windows Server 2008 and Suite
  • Ability to setup and configure Apple devices in a corporate environment, preferred, but not required
