Head of Technology

We’re seeking a dynamic Head of Technology to coach and direct operational activities to ensure compliance with department/company goals and objectives. This position is responsible for leading overall corporate technology roadmaps, engineering strategy and infrastructure; ensuring in-house systems, technology development, installations, and IT/IS operations are innovative. As the Head of Technology, you will report directly to the CEO.

Job Duties Include, but not limited to:

  • Facilitate interaction between the IT, IS, and BI teams, and be responsible for hardware/software maintenance, project pipelines, as well as, oversight of all technical operations and database management infrastructure and implementation
  • Oversee, deploy, and maintain multiple company projects and pipeline for different user groups (e.g. operations, security, client services, technology development and disaster recovery). Work with BI team to model and build out our WebbTraxx IP
  • Provide training on the expansion of ecosystem companywide to enable wider usage/application of technology. Contribute to the strategic planning of the organization by providing strategic leadership and management of the company’s technology, delivery, and provide direction and support to the IS Director, Admin, Project Managers and Development teams
  • Manage the relationship and project delivery of key technology providers
  • Lead in the development, communication and implementation of effective technology delivery practices
  • Drive IT and business teams to deliver critical functionality in a timely manner
  • Establish and deliver a technology roadmap which meets the goals of the executive team. Where necessary, re-engineer hardware architecture so it aligns with business processes, tactical planning, and strategic vision
  • In conjunction with the development, project management teams: Architect, and design technical solutions which deliver the required functionality and are scalable, maintainable, cost effective, and nimble
  • Balance resource assignments and priorities to consistently support projected deployment schedules
  • Responsibilities include infrastructure hardware, IT support software, licenses, operating systems, virtualization, firewalls, networks, storage, new technology evaluation, security phone systems, security systems and disaster recovery
  • Define and communicate project milestones, to executive team, department leads, support staff, and end users
  • Develop and review budgets for IT department and ensure they comply with stated goals, guidelines, and objectives
  • Review performance of IT systems to determine operating costs, productivity levels, and upgrade requirements
  • Analyze and make recommendations for the improvement of the IT infrastructure and IT systems (cloud-based vs physical)
  • Authorize and oversee the monitoring, maintenance, development, and support of all hardware based on department needs
  • Develop business case justifications and project timelines for IT spending initiatives
  • Direct research on potential technology solutions and implementations in support of new initiatives, business software requirements and company goals
  • Oversee provision and admin team of end-user services, including desktop support and technical support services
  • Oversee negotiation and administration of vendor, and consultant contracts and service agreements pertaining to IT services
  • Manage IT staffing, including recruitment, supervision, scheduling, development, evaluation, and performance improvement
  • Establish and maintain written and in-person communications with the organization’s executives, department heads, and end users regarding pertinent IT activities
  • Effectively manage, support, guide, mentor, and direct activities of staff, inspiring and motivating them to achieve their best
  • Provides governance, processes and frameworks to support our information technology vision, strategies and tactics relative to existing and new businesses
  • Ensure appropriate compliance to corporate and government regulations
  • Support Business Development efforts involving technology
  • Drive positive organizational and cultural change
  • Successfully navigate complex and uncertain situations
  • Drive adoption and implementation of IT best practices
  • Other duties as assigned


  • Demonstrated, hands-on leadership in the development and implementation of contemporary technology architectures, utilizing agile methods, best practices and current innovations across technology solutions and platforms
  • Subject matter expert in cloud-based technology
  • Experience managing IT operating and capital budgets
  • Demonstrated people management skills to manage and mentor technology team
  • Demonstrate a high level of emotional intelligence: self-awareness, social awareness, self-management and relationship management
  • Knowledge of technology trends in software and hardware procurement
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to form strong professional working relationships internally and externally
  • Works well under pressure with a positive, can-do outlook

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Master’s Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Business administration or related field
  • 15+ years of progressive experience and demonstrated growth in Information Technology roles, including 7+ years current leadership experience managing and administering a major IT operation
  • Experience in both large, well-run companies and smaller, high-growth entrepreneurial companies is desired
  • Strong track record of evaluating, analyzing, designing, implementing, leading, and monitoring effective and efficient technology processes to proactively improve performance while ensuring maximum cost/benefit of technology spend
