Local Media Buyer

Are you a dynamic, seasoned Local Media Buyer looking to work with top brands? Icon Media Direct is looking for an energetic addition to our media buying team. The Local Media Buyer is responsible for negotiating, purchasing and analyzing local media, ensuring client profitability, and meeting media and clients’ expectations, requirements and goals. This position requires strong negotiation skills with a proactive and results-oriented approach. The ideal candidate will possess a strong sense of accountability with a daily focus on bottom line results.

Job Duties include, but not limited to:

  • Negotiate, purchase and optimize media effectively and efficiently with local markets
  • Create profitable and innovative media buys that drive performance and exceed clients’ goals and requirements
  • Perform daily buy maintenance and reconcile all media buys
  • Communicate with Local Broadcast and Cable Network’s S&P to ensure spots are cleared to air
  • Develop and maintain strong vendor relationships at the Local DMA level
  • Serve as a marketplace expert for set list of markets, stations, and publishers
  • Keep up with programming and ratings, along with industry and technology trends
  • Collaborate with internal Icon teams to provide real time solutions to challenging marketplace conditions
  • Demonstrate a clear understanding and implementation of media math and planning: CPM, CPO, CPC, CPV, TRPs, CPP, etc.
  • Model the way and actively coach and develop Media Assistants
  • Promote a positive work environment that encompasses encouragement, recognition, appreciation, respect and teamwork

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • College Degree Required
  • Minimum 5 years of experience buying Local Broadcast and Radio, Cable, and VOD/OTT/Digital Video/Digital Audio (podcasting) at Direct Response or General Market Agency
  • Working knowledge of CORE Direct or similar buying system to maintain, enter, revise and cancel buys
  • Proficient in MS Office, especially Excel
  • Experience in using Nielsen, SQAD, and Kantar
